Top 5 Horror Movie Opening Credits

As you sit with the curtains drawn and the lights off for the horror to unfold on your home cinema system, it's important that the opening credits set the tone for the next hour and a half of terror that will unfold. Many Horror films over the years have produced perfect opening theme tunes or scenes. Here is 5 of the best of them:

1- Halloween

Where would we be without this gem, the tune perfectly creepy and fast paced to get the heart thumping. Instantly recognisable the world over.

2 - Scream

An opening scene with a top actress butchered, you can't get much better than that to set the tone. No suspense or build up needed, first murder complete before the opening titles.

3 - Child's Play

Who could forget walking into the toy store for the first time, to be met by rows and rows of creepy dolls. None are as creepy of Chucky.

4 - Dawn of the Dead

Featuring broken clips and some terrifying zombie sounds, this is perhaps made scarier by the upbeat sound of Johnny Cash.

5 - Texas Chainsaw Massacre

A true story opening for any horror movie sets your pulse racing a bit faster, and before Google became available on your mobile phone there was no way to know if it was just a marketing ploy or not!

Human Muzzle

The Human Muzzle was used as a medieval torture device, often bulky and made from iron these would be used to clamp together the jaw of the prisoner. This would render the victim incapable of eating, biting or drinking properly and made talking extremely painful.

In Modern society the most common association of a human muzzle is in the film, Silence of the Lambs, about a convicted cannibal called Hannibal Lecter. This effect made Hannibal the Cannibal immeasurably more scary looking, wearing a muzzle is terrifying for those around you as clearly someone deemed you so unsafe you weren't allowed to bite anything in sight.

As a costume a Human Muzzle is sure to be terrifyingly scary to those around you, coupled with a straight jacket this is sure to a be a Halloween winner!
